ARTIST STATEMENT

From a very early age there has always been a love for how light creates a mood, the way darkness builds in the distance and how a glow remains over the horizon. Together these mental images inspire me to create.

My landscapes give the viewer the freedom to let the mind wonder to a familiar place or a destination unknown; creating a visual experience that allows the imagination to run free. My paintings are a journey of the heart, mind and moods that hopefully brings personal thoughts of joy or solitude into your own well being.

THE WORK

As you can see from his current galley of work; Kevin paints in two different styles. Sharing time between warm, soft colors and minimal color allows him to cover different moods and thoughts.

Kevin’s highlighted work on the homepage and in Gallery I is skillfully crafted to have the look and feel of a three-dimensional, matted and framed piece of art. He has achieved this effect by painstakingly hand-painting the entire canvas from the focal scene to the canvas border. These serene landscapes are punctuated with a minimal use of color that conveys feelings of hope, life and contentment.

The work in Gallery II has more of a coastal feel which brings him back to some of his favorite places he has visited.

Overall Kevin’s work is a collection of memory and experiences.
